Introducing quattrimus: ICS for the Optimus V
What is it?
quattrimus is Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) for the Optimus V. This is the product of some amazing work by many people. First and foremost:
* lupohirp for building CM9 for the LG P500.
* mikegapinski for fixing a build issue that allows support for older devices.
* drewwalton19216801 for porting the ROM to the Optimus S.
* The CyanogenMod and AOKP teams for all their work on fixing and improving ICS.
* blarf for creating IHO.
* LeslieAnn for the awesome build server.
* Many, many others.
Why quattrimus?
This is Android 4.0. lupohirp is Italian and quattro is the Italian word for four. So the name pays homage to his amazing work.
Status?
This is currently alpha quality. Some things are known to be non-functional (see below) and the ROM is generally unpolished.
If you haven't flashed a custom ROM before, this is not ready for you yet!
Working:
* Phone
* SMS
* WiFi
* Bluetooth
* Hardware video acceleration
* Video (youtube etc.)
* Headphone audio out (music)
Partially working:
* 3G is spotty and can be difficult to get running (see post 2 for the fix)
* MMS is very finicky, not functional for many/most people (see post 2 for the fix)
* Camera takes pics only, no preview window or video
* Some video intensive apps/games can freeze up sometimes
Not working:
* Built-in tethering (workaround: use third party apps)
* CPU does not enter "deep sleep" mode often and/or reliably
Note: the above is subject to change as the source projects change.
Future plans?
This is a broad roadmap, in no particular order:
* Get as much working as possible
* Continue trimming down the size
* Polish it up
* Port to other Optimus variants
* Release an AOSP build (?)
IMPORTANT: tdm will be releasing this ROM for all of the Optimus variants and will need testers. If you are willing to take up this job, PM him.

When is the next release?
Expect alpha9 by 4/28.
When is it going to be beta?
When everything works, at least minimally. I have no idea when. Maybe next month. Maybe next year. Maybe never.
Where do I file bug reports?
There is a bug tracker Link Removed If it becomes more of an annoyance to me than a help, I'll turn it off or just ignore it, so please use it wisely:
- Please be courteous and professional.
- Please file thorough reports. Some things are obvious, some aren't, so you'll need to use some discretion in how much detail to write. Generally, you should answer these questions: What build are you running? What happened? What should have happened? Under what conditions? Do you know what might have triggered the issue?
- Please don't file duplicate issues. Search for your issue both in this thread and in the bug tracker before filing a new issue.
- Please use this for quattrimus specific bugs at the moment. I'm not fixing CM9 issues yet. If you have another CM9 device to compare behavior, that would be ideal.
Can I donate?
I don't want anything for myself, please support open source software generally (eg. EFF), lupohirp, and the IHO team.
NOTE: This was originally posted on Android Central and I couldn't find it on XDA so I figured I'd repost it here (this means that I AM NOT THE DEVELOPER OF THIS ROM). I will however maintain this thread and help where possible. All credit goes to tdm and his band of outlaws. Have a good day and enjoy the ice cream sandwich.

coming from someone who has no experience coding android...take this with a grain of salt.
we had luck on the S with data when this line was enabled in the build.prop. i dont know if it will help you guys, but its worth a shot.
delete the # to make it look like this
I have no doubt it will do nothing, but, hey, worth a shot maybe?
The above is a 3G fix suggested by eletendre84. Thank him on Android Central!
You'll need to edit the apns-conf.xml to reflect Virgin Mobile's values 311 490
For anyone who wants to try:
- use a root capable file manager, and copy the /system/etc/apns-conf.xml file to your PC (it's too large to edit on the phone)
- open it with a good text editor (notepad may work, but I don't ever recommend notepad).
- search for Virgin Mobile US, and change the mcc to 311 and mnc to 490.
- copy it back to your phone,
- clear cache in the MMS app,
- reboot.
Let us know if it works for you.
And that fix is for MMS, thanks JerryScript!

No I actually did not quite honestly. But I'll most certainly notify him about it. Just didn't want any of the XDA members to miss out. Thanks for reminding me.

Thanks. I don't think he'll mind though. Or at least I hope not! Have a good day.

When you say that you'll be porting this to other Optimus One variants does this include the LG Vortex for Verizon?

To the best of my knowledge, since the LG Vortex is in the Optimus One family, yes sometime in the future LG Vortex will taste ice cream. If you have any very specific questions, you can ask tdm over on Android Central. Have a good day!

I'm sorry. I only just started looking through these forums to see the rooting/flashing potential for my friend's hand me down phone. Who exactly is tdm?
Edit: Nevermind. Just did a quick search.

I used Gingerbreak for my phone but I'm not quite sure if that would work for the Vortex. Verizon is pretty good about locking up their phones. Anyways, if you surf around you should find a method that fits. Good luck.
