We just love hacks and methods that let us do important stuff like rooting and installing ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery on our Android phones with just a single click, instead of needing to go through complicated steps or procedures which require a lot of reading and being careful. Of course, being careful is a must no matter how easy or difficult a procedure is, but one-click methods save us a lot of time and effort as well. The Nexus S line of phones has received a new one-click root tool thanks to XDA modder m.sabra, that lets you root as well as install ClockworkMod recovery on your Nexus S on both Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich firmware, with a few simple clicks. It supports all the variants of the Nexus S, like the T-Mobile and AT&T versions, along with the international versions. The rooting procedure is quite simple. All you need to do is connect your Nexus S to your computer, run an automated .bat file, then follow the on-screen instructions to root and install ClockworkMod recovery. There is a caveat though. In order to make ClockworkMod recovery survive a phone reboot, you have to run another script, which requires entering a couple of lines of text manually. But we’re sure this will be sorted out soon as the tool gets more updates in the future. So head on over to the original development thread on XDA to download the tool and to get additional info on it. After the Virtuous S4X ROM for the HTC Sensation based on the HTC Endeavor aka HTC One X RUU firmware leak, which brought Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 with HTC’s latest Sense UI 4.0 on top, the same developer team has now brought an updated version of the ROM based on the leaked One S (the upcoming dual-core sibling of the quad-core One X) RUU firmware. Of course, the ROM includes Sense 4.0 like before, which is looking to be the most beautiful custom UI out there. The ROM is a work in progress and is in the alpha stage, which means that the ROM is by no means complete, and has bugs and issues present. HTC has just published a blog post that, aside from making a cheesy reference to ice cream sandwiches, confirms a list of devices that are guaranteed to eventually be pushed to Android 4.0. The latest version of Google’s mobile operating system has a bad track record when it comes to legacy device upgrades, but manufacturers are nevertheless steaming ahead.HTC said that it is in the “early stages of rolling out Android 4.0″ for the HTC Sensation and the HTC Sensation XE. It promised that “upgrades will be more widely available in the next few weeks.” The company stressed that upgrades are also reliant on carriers, and a lot of the update scheduling has to go through them, so nailing down timelines is difficult. The hope is that HTC’s update process will go much more smoothly than the manufacturers before it. The Nexus S phone and the Transformer Prime tablet both had horrendous experiences that caused early upgraders to see their devices freeze and crash, with the updates quickly pulled thereafter. The complete list of HTC devices confirmed for upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich are:* HTC Amaze 4G * HTC Desire S * HTC Desire HD * HTC EVO 3D * HTC EVO Design 4G * HTC Incredible S * HTC Sensation * HTC Sensation XL * HTC Sensation 4G * HTC Sensation XE * HTC Raider * HTC Rezound * HTC Rhyme * HTC Thunderbolt * HTC VividSource: slashgear.com

If you have a Motorola Android device and you’ve been patiently waiting for the much anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich update, you may be interested in knowing that Motorola have just released some information on its update schedule for ICS.According to the information released, if you have yourself an ‘international version’ of Motorola’s latest Android device the Droid RAZR, you can expect to get the latest version of Android on the smartphone by Q2 this year. This is most probably going to be around June time.Along with the Droid RAZR there are also a couple other Moto Android devices that are also expected to get the ICS update in Q2, such as the Xoom tablet. The list also specifies devices which are due to get the update in Q3; these are the Xoom 2, Atrix 2 and a few other devices for the American market. Some users may be disappointed that they will have to wait until summer before they can take advantage of what ICS has to offer. But on the other hand, it’s good to see Motorola keeping their customers informed and up-to-date. If you want to check out the info available, you can head on over to the Motorola support forum which gives some insight as to the necessary testing phases involved before releasing major updates of the Android OS. Source: http://blog.gadgethelpline.com/motorola-reveals-android-40-ics-update-schedule/

So, it turns out the sola isn't a US-specific version of the Xperia S after all, but a new handset in its own right -- albeit one we've already seen under the "Pepper" codename. In some ways, it's a budget version of the S, with a similar appearance minus the glittery translucent strip along the bottom and with various other reductions, including a 3.7-inch 854 x 480 LCD, 1GHz dual-core processor and 5-megapixel rear camera. On the other hand, it's a fully hazed member of the Xperia gang, with NFC SmartTags, an xLOUD "surround sound" speaker, Mobile BRAVIA image processing and, of course, full access to the Sony Entertainment Network. As expected, the sola will ship with Gingerbread but be upgradeable to ICS soon after launch. There's also one completely new spec: "floating touch" navigation for "magic web browsing without touching the screen." What is it? Does it work? We should have answers pretty soon -- the handset is due for a global release in black, white and red colors in Q2. Check the source link for full specs. Source: Sony, Youtube

Well, when someone of the reputation of Mr. Murtazin talks about a leak, you gotta sit up and listen, more so when it’s about the the the Galaxy S3. Latest Galaxy S3 specs tell of high-quality materials being used and more importantly, everything has been finalized and the S3 has entered production. Finally! It’s said that Galaxy S3 will have ceramic back, and that’s just one of the several premium stuff S3 would boast of. Moreover, there is a word on pricing too — it will be costly and one could take iPhone 4S as a benchmark. To get good idea of Galaxy S3 pricing, one needs to look at the prices of factory unlocked iPhone 4S, in European and Asian countries. here in India, iPhone 4S costs around INR 35000 ($700 approx.), but was launched several months ago for INR 42000 ($840 approx). So, going by this rumor, one could expect the price of Galaxy S3 to be around $750-900, and I guess that’s for 32GB model.Back to specs, other rumors speculate a just 7mm thick body, while packing in quad-core processor — which should be Samsung’s own Exynos one — and 4.8-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, with ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 on-board, along with the ICS trademark on-screen buttons.Well, that’s that, and now that design has been finalized and has entered production, we hope the release isn’t very far, although one can expect it to be an affair happening close to Olympics — June release date is being rumored for Russia, take note! Source: theandroidsoul.com

Here is the required procedure for obtaining root and installing clockworkmod (CWM) recovery on XXLPQ, the official Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 firmware, released for the Galaxy S2 i9100 via Samsung PC software, Kies. Thanks to Chainfire, who as always didn’t take much time after the release of the firmware to come out with a rooted and CWM-enabled CF-Root kernel for it. Be fully aware that this root and clockworkmod recovery installation guide is only for XXLPQ firmware and not any other firmware. So, make sure you have XXLPQ installed on your Galaxy S2 international version, i9100.CompatibilityThis procedure is compatible only and only with Samsung Galaxy S2, model number i9100. It’s not compatible with any other device. Check your device’s model number in: Settings » About phone. Also, make sure you are on XXLPQ firmware as well.Warning!Read everything carefully and thoroughly. The methods and procedures discussed here are considered risky and you should not attempt anything if you don’t know completely what it is. If any damage occurs to you or your device, we won’t be held liable. How to Root XXLPQ Firmware and Install Clockworkmod (CWM) RecoveryDownload CF-Root kernel from the original download page → here. Filename: CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5.zipUnzip the downloaded file once. You will get a .tar file – CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5.tar. DO NOT extract the .tar file (this might show up as a zip file as well, but do not extract it). You need to flash the .tar file using Odin to gain root access and install the ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM) alongside. (If you’re getting a zImage file, it means you’ve extracted the .tar file too! — and that’s not a right thing to do. Use 7-zip (free software) to extract.)Download Odin3 v1.83 from → here Filename: Odin3-v1.83.exe | Size: 416 KB.Switch off your phone. Wait for vibration to confirm complete switch off. Now, put the Galaxy S2 in Download Mode — press and hold these keys together: Volume Down + Home + Power. You’ll see a Warning! screen.. press Volume Up to continue.Open Odin now by double clicking on Odin3 v1.83.exe file you got in step 3.Connect your phone to PC now. You should get the message “Added! !” under Odin’s message box in the bottom left (Check screenshot after step 9). If you don’t get this message, then probably there is a problem with drivers. Make sure you’ve the drivers installed. On Odin, click the PDA tab and select the .tar file you got in step 2 — CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5.tar.Important! Do not touch any other button or make any other changes in Odin except selecting the required file in PDA tab as given in step 8. Your Odin’s screen should look like this: Click the Start button on Odin to flash the CF-Root kernel (after double checking the ODIN screen). After flashing is complete, you’ll get a PASS message (with green background). Upon successful flashing, your ODIN screen will look like this: IMPORTANT Note: If ODIN gets stuck and doesn’t seem to be doing anything, or you get a FAIL message (with red background) in ODIN, do the following:Disconnect the phone from the PC, close ODIN, remove battery, re-insert it, turn phone on in Download mode again, and do the procedure again from Step 6. After CF-Root is installed, phone will restart automatically. When the Galaxy S2 logo shows up on phone, you can disconnect the cable from phone.Your phone is rooted now. Note that this time around it’s the new SuperSU app — alternative to good old superuser app — is included with the root and clockworkmod recovery. It allows you to give root access to applications and control their access. Also, CWM based recovery has been automatically installed too. Use the CWM app in app drawer to boot into recovery and do ROM backups and restore, installations, and much more.If you run into any problems while flashing CF-Root, let us know and we’ll try to help you out.You have successfully rooted and obtained ClockworkMod recovery on XXLPQ Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 firmware. Let us know your thoughts on it in the comments.Source: XDA

Which music player is the best?

I got Winamp and I really see no difference between Stock and Winamp. Stock actually looks nicer in my opinion.

I have been suggested Player Pro, but it's not free.

Any suggestions?

Also a big thing for me is the ALBUM ART. Both Winamp and stock have LOW quality album art. My pictures are HD quality all the same size, yet they have blur and low quality. Very annoying!
